What is Energy Kinesiology?

Energy Kinesiology is a non-invasive, holistic approach to health and well-being. Your body’s innate tendency is to be well and healthy.  Energy Kinesiologists use a biofeedback system called muscle monitoring to test specific points along the Chinese acupuncture meridians to discover areas of stress/imbalance in the body, mind and energy systems.

Then, by using one or more of the many balancing methods- including chakra balancing, sound, color and more, you will be able to balance the body’s energy and facilitate your client in shifting through issues that can cause the body to experience emotional or physical pain. These issues can be Mental, Physical, Emotional, or Spiritual.

We do not treat or diagnose, but rather combine the muscle monitoring with various modalities to reduce stress and pain thus opening the door to optimum health and well-being.

Muscle Monitoring, or Muscle Response Testing

Muscle monitoring, or muscle response testing (MRT), uses a muscle in a specific contracted or relaxed state and then adds resistance to see how the muscle will function.  This specific test gives information which we can use to further assess the body and find where it is holding stress.  With this information, we can start to assist the body in releasing stress and creating healthier function.

History of Energy Kinesiology

Energy Kinesiology has its roots in the early 60’s, conceived by a group of American chiropractors led by Dr. George Goodheart. The “dirty dozen” correlated the relationship between internal organs, acupuncture meridians and skeletal muscles. They realized that the skeletal muscles, not unlike acupuncture meridians, also were a way to monitor internal function. Dr. Goodheart called this work Applied Kinesiology.

Some of the other notable contributors in the field are John Thie (Touch for Health), Richard Utt (Applied Physiology), Charles Krebs (LEAP), and Hugo Tobar (Neuroenergetic Kinesiology).

Of the many advances in Applied Kinesiology, the most well-known is the diagnostic procedure called muscle monitoring. This was originally developed and published by Henry and Florence Kendall, Physical Therapists, in Muscles; Testing and Function, 1949. This procedure establishes a monitored primary feedback mechanism between the nervous system and the skeletal muscles. The concept of muscle monitoring becomes a very effective and versatile tool for detecting and correcting various imbalances which may relate to stress, nutrition, learning problems, injuries and so on.
